About KidsPlea.Org

This website is being designed to give you, the parent, grandparent, or concerned adult, a place to go and get information about legislation that will or does effect childhood medical, health, health insurance, and disease issues.

Although our first priority with this website will be about legislative issues affecting cancer kids, we hope to eventually address all issues.  It is our goal to make this a resource that everyone will find beneficial enough to come back and visit often.  We also hope that you will become and activist, along with us, by Volunteering with our organization.  Many Hands Make Light Work.....

My name is Sharon Lane and at this writing, I am the chief cook and bottle washer of this website. This is a growing enterprise, that only your volunteerism will help to expand.  Please consider clicking on our Volunteer link and offering your help.

I became a volunteer cancer activist on the web when I was diagnosed with cancer in 1998.  I worked for a number of non-profit organizations, in a volunteer capacity.  Because I had an extremely rare cancer, many of my personal support and information needs were not being met, so I chose to 'go it alone'.  I developed websites for my rare cancer first.  As I expanded my network of contacts, I began developing websites for others with rare cancers.  Then I created a website for all adult rare cancer and pediatric cancer patients, called Rare-Cancer.Org.

That is when I met Pam Bergsma of the LoveJoey Retinoblastoma Foundation.  On December 22, 2000 Pam lost her grandson Joey, needlessly, to a rare eye cancer.  While spending 2 years supporting Joey through treatments, including eye enucleation, Pam learned a great deal about his cancer.  One thing that never left her thoughts was the fact that if Joey's cancer had been detected earlier, he would be alive and might even have his vision.  When Joey passed away, Pam was motivated to do something about that!

Pam has made it her lifelong passion to help retinoblastoma children, legistlatively.  And in her enthusiasm, she recruited me to help many.  Her latest endeavor will be far reaching, in the future, through many states.  Hence, the creation of KidsPlea.Org.  We both decided that it was time to officially branch out into the politics of taking care of our cancer kids' medical needs, through the laws governing each country.

That brings us to today.  We are in our infancy, so please be patient with us.  Our lives are very full with all of our volunteer activities. We could sure use a few more bodies (and minds). Please help us to help the kids.  Volunteer today!
